A Behind the Scenes By Any Other Name...

With Monday bringing us a huge update to crafting, this behind the scenes offers us a tantalizing peek at even more updates coming this way. And with May being the last month for many players' school years, it is only appropriate that Jagex gives enticing updates to persuade people to get members for the summer.
This month seems to bring yet more much-needed higher level content, as is suggested by the first update, the Achievement Diary. Personally, this update is the update I am most looking forward to. This seems to be a list of tasks that can be completed, and while not a quest, it can be much more in-depth than quests. The diary itself makes you think of the X-Box achievements that have been brought out with that console, and a list of things that you can do in Runescape is an excellent way to get more players to explore the things to do.
The examples Jagex gives, including new teleports, better shop prices, and increased rewards seems to be an interesting idea. If there's something normal magic lacks, is a Karamja teleport. If they add that to the list, I believe that alone would be an excellent update. If anything, this will provide at least a few hours of work, as Karamja includes the entire Jungle, up through the Kharazi area, and even includes the TzHarr area!
Coming up the next week, the Lunar series will be continued with an update to the Lunar spell book. As the last one required a high non-combat skill, 61 crafting, I expect this quest should be an interesting quest with relatively high requirements. Becoming a dream mentor reminds me of the “A Soul's Bane” quest, where you went through Tolna's mind, but another set of puzzles would be a very fun idea.
Many players have already been speculating about the possible lunar updates. I believe that the skill aspect of the set will be extended, and some possible ideas that could happen are:
- Herblore: Filling vials
- Cooking: A different cooking spell, maybe cakes?
- Fletching: A version of stringing bows.
- Crafting: Tanning hides would make all my effort worthless, but will make many others very happy.
- Smithing: Superheat ore already exists, so most likely not.
- Support: Possibly disease healing, or boost over a larger area.
- Teleportation: The Elven areas? Piscatoris?
The next week's update is the NPC improvements. Personally, I like all the updates, and while the goblins looked good, the main reason I enjoyed the update was what was brought with it. Any NPC improvements are a good update, but by themselves, they are a bit weak. They will probably be accompanied by the library update, but unfortunately, it still sounds like it won't be that large of an update.
And finally, last in the week, the long-awaited Varrock update is coming. The new Varrock museum will most likely get a Ruby Necklace teleport to it, but whatever they do with the necklace, it should be interesting. The idea of achievement prevails through this month, and finishing exhibits based on your stories is another good idea on how to show off what you have done. Maybe you can even see exhibits done by others? Even if not, it would still be a good idea.
Keep in mind that the update will be more than just graphical tweaks. The slums might just be a bit more dangerous this time around, especially for small children and pets.
Here are my predictions as to the months' updates. I realize last month I was a bit off, but I did not believe Jagex would update on a Monday.
- Week of May 7th: Achievement Diary
- Week of May 14th: Dream Mentor Quest
- Week of May 21st: Creepy Kalphite Makeover
- Week of May 28th: Varrock and Museum Update
If you have any comments to add, or if you believe I am mistaken with my predictions, comment below with your ideas for the coming updates!

Yes, this month does always seem to sound interesting, and which imo, is the best month updates get released at. ^^.
I think your predictions are safe enough to say, =).

I like the museum update and the Achievement Diary parts. Gives you something to do if you're ever bored. Sadly, I'm only F2P...

I live in America, and I believe a lot of European countries are on similar schedules. I could be mistaken, of course.

Well the schools in Holland will not be ending untill July. But it seems reasonable that Jagex will want to release good updates some time before the school year actually ends, so that everyone has the time to take notice of the updates and get membership. The achievements diary (and other possible additions) will still be there in July.
