The monthly Behind the Scenes has not always been a feature given to us by the kind masters of Jagex. Before, we were content to just play through the morning hours on update days, wondering what the week will bring us. However, now we are spoiled by the teasing words of one of the staff, wondering how good the updates will be.

This editorial will focus on the different events of the Behind the Scenes, and one author's opinions on what each paragraph will entail.

Harvey!

The April article begins simply, with an event nobody could miss. The Easter event is a staple of every year, and since the Bunny Ears, has always given interesting wearable items. From the Rubber chicken to the Easter ring, the new ones brought with them interesting effects. This event seems like it will not prove to be an exception, but self-delivering chocolates promise to have a spin of magic and zaniness, like all holiday events should.

The first real update hinted towards in the Behind the Scenes is yet another Fremennik update. Since the update of Neitiznot and Jatizso, players have generally praised the latest adition to the Relekka storyline. This quest seems to encompass another failed trip, as when a boating expedition goes underwater... It is usually not a good sign. The promised underwater weapon seems to be an interesting idea for Jagex, but if it's really only an underwater weapon, it will be doubtful how useful it will be. And isn't an anchor enough?

The next part of the Behind the Scenes is the goblin makeover. As with their armor situation, the above-ground goblins have never been able to agree on anything. Since they're due for some silicon surgery this month, I believe the update should leave them looking similar to the Dorgeshaan. Of course, since the last update of the goblin city, that should be a real treat.

Speaking of goblin cities, the dwarven engineer in the new city has not been forgotten! The next update of the month involves the next chapter of the H.A.M. Saga, and should prove to be another witty saga. The cave goblins are going to be discovering sinister secrets, and if the Digsite quest is a requirement, there should be some interesting discoveries in store. Who is this Zaros fellow, anyway?

And the last update this month, is the one I am personally looking forward to the most. A huge jewelry update, bringing a major addition to an existing skill. This update has very great potential, as a new jewelry type always does. Whether or not it will turn out the update of the month is debatable, but take a look at some of the ideas proposed:

  • A jewelry item to mine soft clay, getting rid of the tedious water gathering
  • A slayer jewelry item, possibly boosting the black mask, or allowing tasks to be reset remotely
  • More ring-of-life type jewelry, except maybe healing poison, or allowing you to automatically eat on low hp.
  • Castle wars jewelry, with all the possibilities with that.

If you think about all the possibilities of this update, you will begin to hope that Jagex will not let us down with this one. As they promise updates up to level 84 Crafting, hopefully a high level update or two will sneak in. Unfortunately, I believe Crafting is already a fleshed-out skill, with new things to do up to level 90, and adding new jewelry ending with 84 will leave the high-level crafters disappointed.

Overall, this seems to be a decent month, with the final update overshadowing all the rest. I'm hoping there will be a lot of new jewelry, and if the effects are worth it, it could be a completely different type of update than we've been getting recently.

I believe the schedule of updates will be:

  • Week of April 2nd: Easter Update
  • Week of April 9th: Fremennik Quest
  • Week of April 16th: Goblin makeover, H.A.M. Quest
  • Week of April 23rd: Crafting update

If you have any comments to add, or if you believe I am mistaken with my predictions, comment below with your ideas for the coming updates!

Wow, this almost makes me want to start playing again Very Happy Nice piece Esper, can't wait to see if you're right about any of your speculations, and I hope that the RS players (those of you who can remember your password, unlike me Razz) will enjoy the updates.
